BOSTON, MA – Recently obtained federal reports reveal multiple incidents of fatal staff negligence at the Harvard-affiliated Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). Fatalities include a monkey, a sheep, and a pig which was set on fire.

Federal records reveal that during a ten day period in 2016 at least three surgical procedures were bungled at MGH, leading to the death of a monkey. Earlier in 2016 yet another botched surgery took the life of a sheep. Other incidents outlined in the federal reports include a monkey with a broken leg.

Stop Animal Exploitation NOW! (SAEN), a National Research Watchdog Organization, has filed an Official Complaint with the USDA, requesting a federal investigation of MGH's repeated incidents of negligence, and the maximum federal fine, $10,000 per infraction per animal.

"Research negligence at Massachusetts General Hospital has killed at least three animals and injured others," said Michael A. Budkie, A.H.T., Executive Director, SAEN. "The USDA should throw the book at Massachusetts General Hospital."
