Five arrested in Oregon primate center protest
HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) — Police arrested five animal-rights activists who
blocked traffic near the Oregon National Primate Research Center. The five were
booked into a Hillsboro jail Monday afternoon after they were arrested without
incident for obstructing traffic, a misdemeanor. Roughly 50 people took part in
the nonviolent protest. They oppose the center's use of monkeys in scientific
experiments.
