HATTIESBURG, MS - An animal activist group filed a complaint about the The University of Southern Mississippi’s primate laboratory on Monday.
The Stop Animal Exploitation Now organization said an anonymous tipper from the lab told them that bush babies were getting abused.
“According to the inside source, at least two bush babies housed at USM are so psychologically abnormal that they have become self destructive,” according to SAEN.
University Vice President of Research Gordon Cannon said the university is committed to conducting ethical research.
He also said the Department of Agriculture’s inspection from Aug. 4, 2015, did not find any issues with the program.
