Report Says WVU Killed 16 Animals
By Austin Pollack, WDTV.com, July 22, 2016

In newly released reports from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, they say 16 animals were negligently killed by West Virginia University.

A research analyst with Stop Animal Exploitation Now wrote in a release, "West Virginia University is clearly a career criminal as far as sheep are concerned," it said. "The USDA should throw the book at this negligent lab."

5 News immediately got in contact with WVU. Their vice president of research sent us a statement saying:

“We take seriously our responsibility to conduct live animal research in a responsible and humane manner, and as the USDA has noted previously, we have taken measures to address any lapses in procedures that may occur, even before the agency gets involved. We continue to work with all researchers involved to make sure procedures are followed, and to work with the USDA to meet any and all requirements. We seek to be responsible and meet the highest standards for animal care as well as research.”
