Animal Watchdog Group Demanding Purdue Fire Researchers Involved in Death of Dogs
From WLFI.com, July 5, 2020
An animal cruelty watchdog group is demanding that Purdue fire those
involved in a research study where multiple dogs died.
As we previously reported, Purdue filed a federal report of the case in
March. According to Purdue's report, three dogs died and one was injured
during research for the GI drug "Omeprazole."
Stop Animal Exploitation NOW! co-founder Michael Budkie said they have
contacted Purdue President Mitch Daniels.
SAEN, which is a national research watchdog group that investigates illegal
conduct and animal abuse in U.S. research facilities, filed a federal
complaint against Purdue in May.
The organization is demanding that the responsible staff be terminated, the
project in question halted, and all canine health records be posted on the
university website. Budkie said he has not yet heard back from the
university.
