UL Lafayette Could Face Fine
From KADN.com, January 28, 2021
UL Lafayette could be facing a hefty fine after several monkeys died at its New Iberia Research Center last summer. Ohio-based group Stop Animal Exploitation NOW wants to fine the university $30,000 after 3 monkeys died of an apparent heat stroke. According to the research center director, Francois Villinger, the animals were brought outside between 8 and 9:30 a-m the day they died and were found dead at 12:30 p-m.
Villinger says the animals once lived outdoors in Alice Texas, which has a similar climate to New Iberia. he added -- the staff could not have anticipated the deaths.
