Animal rights group files federal complaint against University of Missouri
From ABC17News.com, March 16, 2021
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Stop Animal Exploitation Now! has filed an official complaint against the
University of Missouri for alleged violations of the Animal Welfare Act with
the USDA.
The allegations come from two incidents where five dogs died and two piglets
went missing.
The complaint refers to two University of Missouri reports obtained by the
group through Freedom of Information Act.
The dogs reportedly died due to warm humid conditions.
The piglets disappeared after falling through a hole in the floor where a
trough was.
The organization alleges that since the University of Missouri should have
the most severe action allowable under the Animal Welfare Act and
immediately begin the process of issuing the maximum fine of $10,000 per
infraction, per animal.
